Frequently Asked Questions

ADDENDUM

If you have an RS1100 or RS1200 and your vehicle runs for several seconds, shuts off, restarts, runs, and shuts off again, perform the following step: Connect the Black/White tach wire (from the 16 pin plug) to the heavy gauge White Ignition 1 wire and program the unit for Tach Mode (bottom of page 19).

IF YOUR REMOTE STARTER IS CLICKING AND/OR FLASHING THE PARKING LIGHTS AND IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE REMOTE, IT IS IN SAFE MODE AND NEEDS TO BE INITIALIZED BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:

If you have a 4 button remote, you must ground the black/blue hood pin wire (raise hood if hood switch is installed). Apply 12volts to blue/black brake wire (press and hold brake pedal if wire is installed). Press and hold any button on your remote until clicking and flashing stops. Unit will now respond to the remote. Remove ground from hood pin wire and voltage from brake wire. If you have a 2 button remote, hold brake and press any button on the remote until clicking and flashing stops.

Q: Do I need a Relay Part #775 to connect the (-) Negative Trunk Release in my Vehicle to my RS-1100/RS-1200E Remote Starter?
A: In most cases you will not need an extra Relay Part #775 for the Trunk Release function, double check the Wire Color Code Chart from our Website to make sure you know the Trunk Release wire Color and Polarity type for the Vehicle you have. If the Vehicle has a (-) Negative Trunk Release wire, and your RS-1100/RS- 1200E DOES NOT have a Dipswitch (the Dipswitch is located between the 16-Pin Harness and the Ignition 1 wire Spade Terminal on the PC Board of the RS-1100/RS-1200E) the Dipswitch is used to select between a (+) Positive and (-) Negative Trunk Release Output. If the unit DOES have a dipswitch, set this Dipswitch to the "OUT" Position for a (-) Negative Trunk Release Output. If the (-) Negative Trunk Release wire in the Vehicle IS BCM Controlled, then you can connect the WHITE/RED (-) Negative Trunk Release Output from your unit to the (-) Negative Trunk Release wire in your vehicle. If the (-) Negative Trunk Release wire in the Vehicle is NOT BCM Controlled, then you will need a Relay Part #775 to connect the WHITE/RED (-) Negative Trunk release Output from your unit to the (-) Negative Trunk Release wire in your Vehicle. If the Unit DOES NOT have a dipswitch then the WHITE/RED Trunk Release wire on this unit is a (+) Positive Output. If the Trunk Release wire in the Vehicle is (-) Negative you will need an extra Relay Part #775 to operate the Trunk Release function on your Vehicle.
