Frequently Asked Questions

ADDENDUM

If you have an RS1100 or RS1200 and your vehicle runs for several seconds, shuts off, restarts, runs, and shuts off again, perform the following step: Connect the Black/White tach wire (from the 16 pin plug) to the heavy gauge White Ignition 1 wire and program the unit for Tach Mode (bottom of page 19).

IF YOUR REMOTE STARTER IS CLICKING AND/OR FLASHING THE PARKING LIGHTS AND IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE REMOTE, IT IS IN SAFE MODE AND NEEDS TO BE INITIALIZED BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:

If you have a 4 button remote, you must ground the black/blue hood pin wire (raise hood if hood switch is installed). Apply 12volts to blue/black brake wire (press and hold brake pedal if wire is installed). Press and hold any button on your remote until clicking and flashing stops. Unit will now respond to the remote. Remove ground from hood pin wire and voltage from brake wire. If you have a 2 button remote, hold brake and press any button on the remote until clicking and flashing stops.

Q: - I plug in the module and I get no response…it acts like the module is dead.
A: - If power and ground are ok, switch Park Light switch to (+). If it starts clicking, the unit is in safe mode.
Q: My LED stays “ON” all the time. What does this mean?
A: If you have noticed that the LED stays “ON” constantly, without flashing, and the system does not Arm or Disarm, you have programmed your System into VALET Mode. Refer to your Installation and Operating Guide for more programming information.
Q: Can I hook a Remote Starter to my Pro-Series Alarm System?
A: On the Pro-Series, the use of channel 2 is set up just for Remote Starter Output. All that is needed, is to connect the output from channel 2 to the Auxiliary Input on the Remote Starter.
Q: Can I hook up an External Shock Sensor or Radar Sensor to my Pro-Series Alarm System?
A: The Pro-Series Alarms are designed specifically for adding External Shock Sensors or Radar Sensors. To add these, simply connect to the Major and the Minor Shock Sensor Inputs.
Q: What types of violations will set off my Pro-Series Alarm System?
A: The Pro-Series Alarm monitors several inputs that will trigger violations. The Door Pin Trigger is one such input. The Internal Shock Sensor monitors impact on the vehicle looking for a violation. The Current Sensing option on the unit, when programmed "ON", will look for an increase in current due to the hood light or the trunk light coming on or by using an external shock sensor and tying into the major and minor trigger inputs will also show a violation.
Q: What do I use the GREEN and the YELLOW wires for on my Pro-Series Alarm?
A: As discussed in the above question, the GREEN and YELLOW wires are inputs to be used for an external sensor, whether that sensor is an impact sensor or a radar sensor is up to you. If you choose to use a hood or trunk pin switch, use the yellow wire as the input and do not use the green. Remember these are negative (-) inputs and a ground pulse on the yellow wire will set the system off and a ground pulse on the green wire will set the system in "warn away".
Q: What do you mean by "Major" and "Minor" Triggers?
A: Major trigger refers to Full Alarm violation and Minor trigger is a "Warn-Away" violation.
Q: What does Door Pin Type refer to?
A: There are (2) Two types of door pins. A (+) Positive Door Pin and a (-) Negative Door Pin Type. In most vehicles the Door Pin is (-) Negative, but most Ford vehicles are (+) Positive. A (-) Negative Door Pin shows a GROUND when the door is opened and the Dome Light is “ON”. A (+) Positive Door Pin shows (+) Positive when the door is open and the Dome Light is “ON”
Q: Do I need to hook up every wire to make my Pro-Series Alarm work?
A: Depending on the options that you wish to install on your system, you will not need to hook up all wires in the harness. It is not necessary to hook up the lock and unlock outputs, dome light supervision, trunk release, major or minor inputs and depending on the level of security you are trying to achieve, you do not have to install the starter kill. There will also be several unmarked wire colors in your harness that are not mentioned. This is a universal wiring harness and if these colors are not mentioned in your manual, do not use them.
Q: Why do the Parking Lights remain “ON” when I Disarm the Pro-Series System?
A: This feature is provided so that when you disarm your alarm in a dark parking lot you do not approach a dark vehicle. The parking lights will remain on after disarming approximately one minute or until you insert the key into the ignition and start the vehicle.
Q: What other options can I use with Channel 2 or Channel 3 on my Pro-Series?
A: If you do not wish to use these outputs for options such as a remote starter or electric trunk release, other options such as window roll up or an electric sunroof opener can be added to these channels.
Q: What is Anti-Carjacking and what does it do on my Pro-Series 7002E?
A: Anti-carjacking is an option that is added only to 7002PRO. This feature will help you recover your vehicle sooner. In the case of a carjacking, a hidden toggle switch is triggered to the "on" position, once the driver's side door is opened and closed, will start a one minute countdown before triggering the alarm system. Once the system is triggered, the starter kill will open and the alarm will cycle until the Anti-Carjacking mechanism is turned “OFF” by the owner.
Q: On my Pro-Series Alarm, there is a YELLOW wire that exits the back of the unit. What is this YELLOW wire for?
A: The YELLOW wire on the back of the unit is the Antenna wire. This wire receives the signal from your remote transmitter. When installing the unit, antenna placement is critical. If you are using the standard range unit which has the yellow antenna wire make sure this yellow wire is not coiled up or tied in with any other wiring. Bring this wire up into the dash as possible. If at all possible, bring the wire through the plastic of the dash (such as between the dash and the steering column) making sure that this wire is above the window glass area of the driver's door. If you have and "E Model", make sure the long black antenna is exposed vertically or horizontally on the windshield with approximately six to eight inches below the top of the windshield. To get as much length of the antenna exposed as possible, make sure the main module is mounted as far to the left hand side and as high up under the dash as possible.
Q: Do I have to use a Relay Part 775 for my Siren Output?
A: The Siren Output on the Pro-Series alarm systems is a (+) Positive output. It does not require a relay to drive (1) Siren. If you are planning to drive more than (1) one Siren, a Relay Part 775 will be needed to do so.
Q: I lost the Remote Control to my Pro-Series Alarm. Where can I purchase an extra Remote Control?
A: To purchase an extra REMOTE CONTROL contact DIRECT WHOLESALE at 1-800-659-0764, have the Installation Manual along with the Model number for your unit when ordering a new Remote Control.
Q: I have entered Programming into my Module that I wish to remove. I have tried reprogramming without success. What should I do?
A: The next step would be to clear the memory EPROM. To do this simply take the negative door pin input (BLACK WITH YELLOW STRIPE wire) the minor trigger input (GREEN) and the major trigger input (YELLOW) and tie all three wires together and press and hold the override button while holding the override button. Place all three wires to ground. The siren will chirp three times letting you know that the programming is complete. Next, remove the three wires from ground and release the override switch. Now try the remote control and the main module should not respond. Unplug the module from the main wiring harness for approximately one minute. Plug back into the main harness and try the remote transmitter. The unit should come up and start working. The unit is now back in factory default.
Q: Where do I mount the Pro-Series Main Module?
A: The unit is designed to be mounted under the dash of the vehicle. After the unit is completely installed and tested, you can simply use wire ties to attach the vehicle's wiring harness under the dash. Make sure that you have installed the siren portion of the alarm out under the hood.
Q: Can I program an extra Remote Control Transmitter for this Pro-Series Alarm?
A: If you have lost your transmitter or just need an extra one, check your Installation and Operating Guide for instructions.
Q: Do I need a 775 Relay to release my Trunk on my Pro-Series Alarm?
A: YES. A relay Part 775 will be needed to apply voltage to your Factory Trunk Release wire. This is needed whether the voltage on the Trunk Release is (-) Negative or (+) Positive.
Q: Do I need Part 778 relays for my Door Locks on my Pro-Series Alarm?
A: This all depends on the type of Door Lock System that is installed on your vehicle. There are (3) Three basic types; Type “A” Positive, Type “B” Negative and Type “C” Reverse Polarity. If your vehicle has a Type “C” Reverse Polarity Door Locking System and your Pro-Series unit does NOT have On-Board Door Lock Relays (5-Pin Door Lock Harness), you will need the extra relays Part 778.
Q: Do I need a Relay Part 775 for my Dome Light Supervision on my Pro-Series Alarm?
A: YES. A Relay Part 775 will be needed to operate the Dome Light Supervision feature. This feature will turn on the Dome Light when the Doors are Unlocked from the Remote Control Transmitter.
Q: I have a Pro-Series Alarm and when I Arm the system after about 30 Seconds the Alarm goes off, what is wrong?
A: LET the ALARM CYCLE through its FULL ALARM CYCLE for approx 30 seconds, then check the L.E.D. and see how many FLASHES it is giving you, then in the PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS, it will FLASH a CODE on the LED, look in the ZONE VIOLATION INFORMATION in your manual, it WILL tell you what is CAUSING the FAULSE ALARMS.
Q: I purchased a universal Bulldog Security Replacement Remote Control; it will not work, why?
A: There are (2) two types of remotes, a NON-PTC or fixed code, and a PTC or Rolling Code, all Remotes look the same, but will not work because you got wrong type of Remote for your unit.
Q: I Arm my Pro-Series Alarm, then I open the door, the Alarm does not sound, why?
A: You must wait at least 1 minute or longer after Arming before you open the door (Dome Light Must turn ON) the vehicle to test the Alarm System.
Q: What do I connect the YELLOW wire to coming out of the back of my Pro-Series Alarm?
A: You do not connect this YELLOW wire, just unroll it and let it hang straight; it’s the Antenna wire that receives the signal from the Remote Control.
Q: Are there batteries in the push button Remote Transmitters?
A: There is an A23 or A27 Remote Control battery in the remote transmitters. To open the transmitter, insert a coin in the groove at the top, press down and twist the coin and the two halves will separate. When you are finished changing the batteries, snap the two halves of the remote back together. Other Remotes have screws to remove and replace.
Q: Do I have to hook up the Ignition Sensor wire on my Pro-Series Alarm?
A: YES. If this wire is not hooked up, the System will have no way of knowing when the vehicle is started with the key or when to turn “ON” Passive Arming.
