If you have an RS1100 or RS1200 and your vehicle runs for several seconds, shuts off, restarts, runs, and shuts off again, perform the following step: Connect the Black/White tach wire (from the 16 pin plug) to the heavy gauge White Ignition 1 wire and program the unit for Tach Mode (bottom of page 19).


IF YOUR REMOTE STARTER IS CLICKING AND/OR FLASHING THE PARKING LIGHTS AND IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE REMOTE, IT IS IN SAFE MODE AND NEEDS TO BE INITIALIZED BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:

If you have a 4 button remote, you must ground the black/blue hood pin wire (raise hood if hood switch is installed). Apply 12volts to blue/black brake wire (press and hold brake pedal if wire is installed). Press and hold any button on your remote until clicking and flashing stops. Unit will now respond to the remote. Remove ground from hood pin wire and voltage from brake wire. If you have a 2 button remote, hold brake and press any button on the remote until clicking and flashing stops.

Q: - I plug in the module and I get no response…it acts like the module is dead.
A: - If power and ground are ok, switch Park Light switch to (+). If it starts clicking, the unit is in safe mode.
Q: - I connected the REMOTE START and when I Press the START BUTTON, all the Remote Starter does is FLASH the PARKING LIGHTS (3) Three time, what is WRONG?
A: -Disconnect the BLACK/BLUE HOODPIN wire and the BLUE/BLACK BRAKE wire and try the unit again, if the UNIT then WORKS, DOUBLE CHECK these CONNECTIONS.
Q: - Will my REMOTE STARTER work in VEHICLES with a DIESEL ENGINE?
A: - All units will work with Fuel-Injected, gasoline engines as long as they have an Automatic transmission. The models that are Diesel capable are: DELUXE 12I/22I, DELUXE 62I and DELUXE 500 but the vehicle must also have an Automatic Transmission. If it is a Standard Shift Diesel the DELUXE 500 will work.
Q: - How long will it take to INSTALL a REMOTE STARTER?
A: - The normal install time is anywhere between 2 and 4 hours. Some basic Remote Starter Models have been installed in or around 1 hour if you or the installer doing the job have experience in installing units before.
Q: - Will the REMOTE START work with a Vehicle that has a MANUAL TRANSMISSION?
A: - All the remote starters except (1) model, the DELUXE 500, requires that the Vehicle have an Automatic Transmission. The DELUXE 500 is the only BULLDOG SECURITY Remote Starter that has the option to work with a Manual Transmission Vehicle.
Q: - I have a Older Model REMOTE START and it has worked fine for many years, now sometimes it responds to the Remote Control and sometimes it does not, what should I do?
A: - CHECK the BATTERY inside the TRANSMITTER to see if it needs to be REPLACED. This is an A23 REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY and is a very COMMON BATTERY to find and REPLACE.
Q: - I was using the Wire Color Code Chart from the website and I cannot find the FACTORY DISARM Wire (FASD) in my Vehicle, what can I do?
A: - First check to see if the VEHICLE has a FACTORY ALARM, if there is NO FACTORY ALARM, there is not going to be a SHUT DOWN wire. ALSO, if you can REMOTE START the VEHICLE and the Horn does not sound there is NO FACTORY ALARM. In this case, tape up the FASD wire from the unit and do not use.
Q: - The COLORS in the Wire Color Code Chart from the website do not match the Colors in my Vehicle, why is that?
A: - CHECK the MANUFACTURES date of MANUFACTURE on the VEHICLE usually located on the Drivers Door, if it is AFTER the 6TH MONTH it is CONSIDERED the NEXT MODEL YEAR. You can also TEST the WIRES with a TEST LIGHT ACCORDING to INSTRUCTIONS in the MANUAL to find the CORRECT wires for your vehicle.
Q: - Does my vehicle need a 791 ANTI-THEFT BYPASS MODULE?
A: - If the vehicle has a FACTORY ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, this info will be listed in the Vehicles Owners Manual, then YES you will need a SECURITY BYPASS MODULE Part 791, the most common Anti-Theft System today is a Special Programmed Ignition Key you can have programmed by your Vehicle Manufacture Dealership or a quality Lock Smith. You can also check with DIRECT WHOLSALE at 1-800-659-0764 they sell many replacement Keys.
Q: - When I press the START on my REMOTE CONTROL, the GM TRUCK Starts and runs, but I get a “CHECK ENGINE LIGHT” ON in the DASH and the TRANSMISSION does not Shift properly, what did I install wrong?
A: - Make sure you have the IGNITION 2 wire form the Remote Starter connected to the PINK/WHITE or WHITE IGNITION 2 wire in the Ignition Harness of this Truck, it is a SMALLER GAUGE WHITE wire on the NEWER TRUCKS, VANS or SUV’S.
Q: - The unit came with (2) TWO remote controls, but only (1) ONE Remote Control works, why?
A: - The first Remote Control used automatically works, the 2nd Remote Control must be programmed using 1st Remote, see the instructions in the installation manual on how to program in a new remote control.
Q: - I have a RS-82I/RS-82P, can I use my FACTORY REMOTE TRANSMITTER to REMOTE START my Vehicle”
A: - YES, you can PROGRAM the RS-82I or RS-82P to REMOTE START using the FACTORY REMOTE CONTROL. You NEED to LOCATE the LOCK MOTOR wire in the vehicle that shows 12 VOLTS every time you PRESS the LOCK BUTTON on the FACTORY TRANSMITTER, then wire a RELAY Part 775 to the UNIT and PROGRAM it according to the Installation Manual.
Q: - The REMOTE STARTER has been installed in my vehicle for about a year, it has worked fine, but I changed the Battery in the vehicle and now the Remote Starter does not respond to the Remote control, what can I do?
A: - You will need to CLEAR MEMORY of the UNIT, this INFORMATION is in your INSTALLATION MANUAL or at the BULLDOG SECURITY WEBSITE in the TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE SECTION.
Q: - I ordered a New TRANSMITTERS for my Remote Starter and I cannot get them to program to my Module, WHAT’S WRONG?
A: - Check the I.C. CHIP on the CIRCUIT BOAD of the NEW TRANSMITTER to see if it HAS the same NUMBER of LEGS as your WORKING TRANSMITTER.
Q: - I connected up the PARKING LIGHT wire from my Remote Starter to the PARKING LIGHT wire in the Vehicle and the Parking Lights DO NOT FLASH.
A: - CHECK the MODEL NUMBER of the UNIT to see what POLARITY the PARKING LIGHT OUTPUT is in (IF UNIT HAS DIPSWITCHES CHECK THE SETTING). Then CHECK to see if it is connected to the CORRENT PARKING LIGHT in the vehicle. On some units, you may need to ADD a RELAY Part #775 DEPENDING on the PARKING LIGHT POLARITY TYPE of this VEHICLE.
Q: - When I connect up the KEYLESS ENTRY section of my Remote Starter, the DOORLOCKS do not function from the Remote Control, is the module bad?
A: - Make sure the unit is wired up for the CORRECT TYPE of DOORLOCK System in your vehicle. Test the LOCK/UNLOCK from the unit to see if it is PUTTING OUT the CORRECT VOLTAGE for the DOORLOCK TYPE on your Vehicle. Test the wires in the Vehicle to see if you are connected to the correct wire in the vehicle.
Q: - When I connected the REMOTE STARTER, all it does is click “ON and OFF” or flash the parking lights “ON and OFF” over and over, why?
A: - The Remote Starter is in “OPERATOR SAFETY MODE/ INITIALIZATION MODE”, to get it out of this Mode, you must GROUND the BLACK/BLUE Hood Pin wire (Open the Hood if connected), connect (+) 12volts to the BLUE/BLACK Brake wire (press and hold the brake), Press and release the Start Button on Remote Control, the clicking and parking lights stop flashing then reverse the procedure.
Q: - When I press the START BUTTON, the Vehicle STARTS and DIES after 5 Seconds, and there is NO SECURITY LIGHT flashing on the DASH, is it a Bypass Problem?
A: - If it shuts OFF after 5 SECONDS and there is NO SECURITY LIGHT FLASHING on the DASH, CHECK to see if there is a IGNITION 2 on the vehicle and make sure it is CONNECTED, if it is CONNECTED, and it is not being Powered up by the Ignition 2 Output from the Remote Starter, the MODULE may need to be SERVICED.
Q: - Should the Hood Pin Switch be installed?
A: - The installation guide explains how to install the Hood Pin Switch. It is a safety feature and it is a good idea to install the hood pin switch for your protection. On newer Remote Starters, the Hood Pin switch must be installed to do the Operator Safety Mode /Initialization Procedure.
Q: – When I connect the DELUXE 200 or DELUXE 500 REMOTE STARTER, I press the “STAR or START BUTTON” (2) Two times, but all I get is (3) Three BEEPS out of the REMOTE CONTROL?
A: – When Remote Starting you must press the STAR or START Button on the Remote Control 2 time for Remote Starting, if at this time the Remote Control BEEPS 3 times, you have 3 things you must check. 1. The H5/3 THIN BLACK wire on the DELUXE 500 and the H4/2 THIN BLACK wire on the DELUXE 200. 2. Make sure the H5/1 GRAY wire on the DELUXE 500 and the H4/4 GRAY wire on the DELUXE 200 is not seeing a GROUND. 3. I you have tried doing ANY programming the unit will need to be set back to Factory Default Mode as stated in your Installation Manual
Q: – When I connect the DELUXE 200 or DELUXE 500 REMOTE STARTER, I press the “STAR or START BUTTON”, but nothing happens, it does not try to Remote Start, why?
A: – When Remote Starting you must press the STAR or START Button on the Remote Control 2 time for Remote Starting.
Q: - When I try to follow the PROGRAMMING INFORMATION in my DELUXE 200 or DELUXE 500 MANUAL, I cannot get the Module to program, why?
A: – When Programming these units you must be in UNLOCK Mode on the Remote Control, this is even if you did not connect up the Keyless Entry feature on the Remote Starter.
Q: - MY DELUXE 200 or DELUXE 500 REMOTE CONTROL DOES NOT REMOTE STARTER ANY MORE AND IT HAS “Z’s” ON THE REMOTE?
A: – When the Remote Control has “Z’s” on the LCD display this tells us the Remote Starter is in VALET Mode, the L.E.D. will also be “ON” and does not flash. Follow the information in the Installation Manual for Programming the VALET Mode “OFF”, this can be done by pressing the Trunk Button on the Remote Control 3 times or by turning the Ignition Key “ON”, then Press and Hold the Valet/Program Switch for 3 seconds until the Z’s are removed from the LCD Screen or the LED turn out.
Q: - Are there Batteries in the push button Remote Transmitters?
A: - There is an A23 or A27 Remote Control battery in the remote transmitters. To open the transmitter, insert a coin in the groove at the top, press down and twist the coin and the two halves will separate. When you are finished changing the batteries, snap the two halves of the remote back together. Other Remotes have screws to remove and replace. The DELUXE 500 or DELXUE 200 use a standard AAA Battery in the back of the Remote Control.
Q: - Can you lengthen the YELLOW Antenna wire?
A: - The YELLOW Antenna wire is cut to length to match the wavelength of the transmitter signal. You should secure the Antenna as vertical as possible. It should be kept away from metal and other wires, and secured to plastic.
Q: - I have a RS-1100 BLUE MANUAL, the VEHICLE REMOTE STARTS, runs for 5 Seconds, and then shuts down, why?
A: - The Parking Lights are back feeding into the Brake wire; isolate the BLUE/BLACK wire with a 775 Relay.
Q: - How do you test an Installed Remote Starter Module without a Remote Transmitter?
A: - Use the BLUE wire in the 18-Pin or 16-Pin Harness. This wire is used for aftermarket alarms and can be used as a test lead. The wire is labeled AMA Input or Auxiliary Input, and is usually taped off. Touch a momentary ground on the BLUE wire and you can either start or stop the vehicle. When you are finished, tape off the BLUE wire this will tell you that the Remote Starter is functioning and all is needed is a Replacement Remote Control.
Q: - The VEHICLE STARTS, runs for 6 or 7 Seconds, holds the STARTER “ON”, then shuts OFF, why?
A: - The unit is programmed for TACH mode; PROGRAM it back to TACHLESS Mode.
Q: - I press the Start button and the Parking Lights flash 3 times but the vehicle does not start. When I press the lock/unlock, trunk, and stop buttons, the parking lights flash, but still the unit will not try to start the vehicle, why?
A: - There is a ground on the BLACK/BLUE hood pin wire OR the brake wire BLUE/BLACK is connected to the wrong side of the brake switch.
Q: - On my Ford, the Heater/Blower works, but the A/C doesn’t, why?
A: - You must connect two (2) accessory wires, usually a GRAY/YELLOW and a BLACK/GREEN both of these wires are heavy gauge to the ACCESSORY wire Output on the Remote Starter.
Q: - I installed a Remote Starter on my Chrysler Product, now it won’t start with the Ignition Key, why?
A: - This vehicle has (2) 12 Volt constant wires, swap the power connection to the other power connection at the Ignition switch harness of this vehicle and replace Blown fuse out under hood.
Q: - What do I connect the YELLOW wire to?
A: - You do not connect this YELLOW wire, just unroll it and let it hang straight; it’s the Antenna wire that receives the signal from the Remote Control.
Q: - When I press the START BUTTON, the Vehicle STARTS and DIES after 5 Seconds, and there is NO SECURITY LIGHT flashing on the dash, is it a Bypass Problem?
A: - If it shuts OFF after 5 SECONDS and there is NO SECURITY LIGHT FLASHING on the DASH, CHECK to see if there is a IGNITION 2 on the vehicle and make sure it is CONNECTED, if it is CONNECTED, and it is not being Powered up by the Ignition 2 Output from the Remote Starter, the MODULE may need to be SERVICED.
Q: - I purchased a universal Bulldog Replacement Remote Control; it will not work, why?
A: - There are (2) two types of remotes, a NON-PTC or fixed code, and a PTC or Rolling Code, all Remotes look the same, but will not work because you got wrong type of Remote for your unit.
Q: – I lost the REMOTE CONTROL to my Remote Starter. Where can I purchase extra Remote Controls?
A: – To purchase an extra REMOTE CONTROL contact DIRECT WHOLESALE at 1-800-659-0764, have the Installation Manual along with the Model number for your unit when ordering a new Remote Control.
Q: - How do you CLEAR the MEMORY of the Remote Starter?
A: - Press and hold the Brake. Cycle the key rapidly in the key cylinder, off to run, (7) Seven times rapidly within (5) Five seconds. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder and release the brakes. Unplug the control unit for 1 minute.
