Frequently Asked Questions

ADDENDUM

If you have an RS1100 or RS1200 and your vehicle runs for several seconds, shuts off, restarts, runs, and shuts off again, perform the following step: Connect the Black/White tach wire (from the 16 pin plug) to the heavy gauge White Ignition 1 wire and program the unit for Tach Mode (bottom of page 19).

IF YOUR REMOTE STARTER IS CLICKING AND/OR FLASHING THE PARKING LIGHTS AND IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE REMOTE, IT IS IN SAFE MODE AND NEEDS TO BE INITIALIZED BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:

If you have a 4 button remote, you must ground the black/blue hood pin wire (raise hood if hood switch is installed). Apply 12volts to blue/black brake wire (press and hold brake pedal if wire is installed). Press and hold any button on your remote until clicking and flashing stops. Unit will now respond to the remote. Remove ground from hood pin wire and voltage from brake wire. If you have a 2 button remote, hold brake and press any button on the remote until clicking and flashing stops.

Q: - I plug in the module and I get no response…it acts like the module is dead.
A: - If power and ground are ok, switch Park Light switch to (+). If it starts clicking, the unit is in safe mode.
Q: When Remotely Starting my vehicle, after approximately (10) Ten seconds, the Remote Starter re-engages and grinds against the flywheel. What causes this OR the vehicle just shuts off?
A: If the Alternator is not putting out 13 to 14 volts DC, as needed, the system will not denote an increase in voltage and regrind the starter. To solve this, make sure you have the accessory wire (WHITE WITH BLACK STRIPE wire) is connected to all proper Accessory wires in the Ignition Switch Harness.
Q: I had my vehicle serviced and my Remote Starter System no longer responds to the Remote Control. What do I need to do?
A: The positive side of the battery may have been disconnected. When reconnected the system will revert back to Lockout Mode. To correct this situation, simply follow the information in your Installation manual for CLEARING the MEMORY of E-PROM. This info is found in the TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE on this website.
Q: Can I install this Remote Starter myself?
A: “YES”. These Systems are designed to be a Do-It-Yourself system. However, Tech Support is always available if you have any difficulty. 800-878-8007
Q: I have an Aftermarket Security System installed in my vehicle. Can I use the Transmitter for my Security System to operate a Bulldog Security Remote Starter?
A: If your Security System has a Channel 2 Output, currently not being used, it can be connected to the Auxiliary Input wire or AMA usually A BLUE wire from the Bulldog Security Remote Starter. In this case, when you press the Channel 2 Button on your Aftermarket Remote Control, it will now operate the Bulldog Security Remote Starter System.
Q: Where can I buy the extra Relays for my Remote Starter?
A: To purchase Relays, to purchase our Relays contact Direct Wholesale at 1-800-659-0764. You can also use any Relay that is at least Rated at 30 to 40 Amps and a S.P.D.T (Single Pull Double Throw)
Q: What is the difference between Tach Mode and Tachless Mode on a Remote Starter?
A: The difference is the amount of crank time. In Tach Mode the crank time is approximately six seconds. In Tachless Mode the module will engage the starter up to four times at an interval of 0.5 seconds. Tachless Mode saves you time during the installation due to the fact that you have one less wire to locate and hook up.
Q: Do I have to use the Tach wire when installing my Remote Starter?
A: “NO”. The Tach is provided in case you have a hard starting vehicle (this is if your vehicle takes more than six seconds of crank time to start) or if you live in an area of extreme temperatures. In either case the Tach wire provides extra crank time.
