If you have an RS1100 or RS1200 and
your vehicle runs for several seconds, shuts
off, restarts, runs, and shuts off again, perform
the following step:
Connect the Black/White tach wire (from the 16 pin plug) to the heavy gauge White Ignition 1 wire and program the unit for Tach Mode (bottom of page 19). |
If you have a 4 button remote, you must ground the black/blue hood pin wire (raise hood if hood switch is installed). Apply 12volts to blue/black brake wire (press and hold brake pedal if wire is installed). Press and hold any button on your remote until clicking and flashing stops. Unit will now respond to the remote. Remove ground from hood pin wire and voltage from brake wire.
If you have a 2 button remote, hold brake and press any button on the remote until clicking and flashing stops. |

A: - If power and ground are ok, switch Park Light switch to (+). If it starts clicking, the unit is in safe mode.

A: When installing the unit, Antenna placement is critical. If you are using the standard range unit which has the yellow antenna wire make sure this yellow wire is not coiled up or tied in with any other wiring. Bring this wire up into the dash as possible. If at all possible, bring the wire through the plastic of the dash (such as between the dash and the steering column) making sure that this wire is above the window glass area of the driver's door. If you have and "E Model", make sure the long black antenna is exposed vertically or horizontally on the windshield with approximately six to eight inches below the top of the windshield. To get as much length of the antenna exposed as possible, make sure the main module is mounted as far to the left hand side and as high up under the dash as possible.

A: The Remote Starter System that you have purchased is a Universal Kit. It will fit most vehicles. In some cases extra Relays are needed to operate features on one Vehicle, but may not be needed to operate features on another. If the Vehicle Information or Color Code Chart on the website does NOT state “BCM Controlled” Trunk release or Dome Light Supervision then a Relay Part 775 must be used.

A: Depending on what Options or Accessories you wish to operate, you will use most of the wires on the Main Harness. To see what wires are necessary for Basic Remote Starting, check out the “QUICK INSTALLATION DIAGRAMS” under Installation Manuals on this website for your unit.

A: The system has (2) Two ways of knowing this. When in Tach Mode, the unit knows it's running by reading the AC voltage from the (-) Negative side of the coil. In the Tachless Mode, the unit knows it's running by reading the increase in DC voltage from the Alternator.

A: The Hood Pin Switch is a Mechanic Safety Device. This is used to prevent the Engine from Remote Starting when the Hood is “OPEN”. This feature is optional to a point, on some newer units (RS-82P, RS-1100, RS-1200 RS-700) the Hood Pin switch must be used to get the unit out of “OPERATOR SAFETY MODE/INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE”.
A: The module must be mounted under the dash next to the Steering Column or as close to the Ignition Switch as possible, this will make it easier when connecting to the Ignition Harness.
A: The Ignition Switch Harness can be found coming down the steering column. In most cases the Ignition Switch Harness will include approximately five to ten heavy gauge wires that connect to the ignition switch tumbler in the steering column. On some newer vehicles the Ignition Switch is mounted on the Dash and the Ignition Harness will be found there.
